Grocery list

I make a grocery list of everything I normally buy and when its time to buy grocery's I just print it off my computer and mark the things off I don't need at the present time and buy the things I do need. If I stick to my list I spend alot less and always come away with everything I need and nothing I don't.

Rebates versus coupons

I calculated the cost of printing the rebate form at $.06, $.44 for the stamp, $.10 for the envelope totaling $.60. So, a $2. coupon minus $.60 = $1.40. Hmmmm. I'd LIKE to stay with Scott, but the store brands are getting better in quality, and are a better value. C'mon, Scott, make it worth our while to use you.

Groceries by Menu

When I start to make my grocery list for the pay period, I start by listing the menu for 2 weeks, then listing the ingredients necesary for each meal so I don't over buy. I save money and less food goes bad!

produce

Buy day old fresh onions, peppers etc. at reduced prices then dice it and freeze it to use in recipes. Tip: Freeze on tray before bagging so they don't become a frozen lump. You can cut green peppers in half, clean and freeze to use them as stuffed peppers. Skin and freeze tomatos to make sauce later.

ANOTHER CELERY TIP

As soon as I get home, I take the celery out of the bag, wrap it in aluminum foil and put it in the crisper drawer of the fridge. It stays crisp and fresh FOREVER. Try it...amazing.

Longer lasting green onions

A great way to make your green onions last longer is to roll them in a damp SCOTT paper towel before putting them into the refrigerator.

Fast Food coupons

I always look for the fast food coupons in the paper & in flyers. Then I give them to my husband to put in the car to use while he is on the go. If I can't get him to take lunch, at least I can save $ on his fast food!
